Petra de Best (1969) has been a lawyer at AKD since 2001. She was appointed partner in 2004 and is part of the department of Enterprise Law. Her focus is on (international) commercial contracts / contract law, (product) liability and product safety. Petra advises on this, but also has a lot of experience in the conduct of proceedings before civil courts and in arbitration cases.
Petra has been working for more than 10 years for renowned companies in the pharmaceutical and food sector. Manufacturers of medical devices and healthcare institutions also belong to their customers. Petra combines a thorough knowledge of the sector-specific regulations (pharmaceutical law, food law and regulation of medical devices and care) with years of experience and insight into these industries. She is therefore a valued sparring partner for many of her customers.
Petra is regularly called on to provide legal support to companies in complex matters (such as the drafting of complex commercial contracts, in case of conflicts concerning the entering into, execution and termination of commercial contracts, liability issues and recall situations, as well as in various cases concerning the reimbursement of care, both for industry and healthcare institutions). Pragmatically and driven, she advises and realizes the optimal result. Petra doesn't like unnecessary scientific treatises. It uses creativity, a thorough knowledge and extensive experience to quickly find the right approach and strategy for its customers. Petra may fall back on her own team, but also cooperates with other specialists within AKD if the expertise of other disciplines is needed. She has good contacts with foreign lawyers, from the international network of AKD.
Petra is a member of the Vereniging Farmacie en Recht, de Vereniging Grotenrecht, de Vereeniging . She has given various presentations in her field and also teaches in house. In recent years, Petra has been the daily chairman of VMT's annual Food Law Day.
In addition, Petra has been editor of the journal Journaal Warenwet and the loose leafed Legislation on Medicines Law for many years. She is now the editor of the Reports of Cases before the Court of Justice of the European Communities. She is co-author of the books Warranties in legal practice, regulation of pharmacy and main lines of food law and has several annotations and publications in her name. Petra is a deputy judge at the Roermond Court.

Haar focus ligt op het gebied van (internationale) commerciële contracten / verbintenissenrecht, (product)aansprakelijkheid en productveiligheid. Petra adviseert daarover, maar heeft ook veel ervaring in het voeren van procedures voor de civiele rechter en in arbitragezaken.
Petra werkt al meer dan 10 jaar voor gerenommeerde bedrijven in de farma en food. Ook behoren producenten van medische hulpmiddelen en zorginstellingen tot haar klanten. Petra combineert een gedegen kennis van de sectorspecifieke regelgeving (farmaceutisch recht, levensmiddelenrecht en regelgeving over medische hulpmiddelen en zorg) met jarenlange ervaring en inzicht in deze branches. Zij is dan ook een gewaardeerd sparring partner voor veel van haar klanten.
Petra wordt regelmatig ingeschakeld om bedrijven juridisch te ondersteunen in complexe aangelegenheden (zoals het opstellen van ingewikkelde commerciële contracten, in geval van conflicten over het aangaan, de uitvoering en de beëindiging van commerciële contracten, aansprakelijkheidskwesties en recall-situaties, maar ook in verschillende zaken over de vergoedingsproblematiek in de zorg, zowel voor de industrie als voor zorginstellingen). Pragmatisch en gedreven adviseert en realiseert zij het optimale resultaat. Petra houdt niet van onnodige wetenschappelijke verhandelingen. Zij zet creativiteit, een gedegen kennis en ruime ervaring in om voor haar klanten snel tot de juiste aanpak en strategie te komen. Petra kan daarbij terugvallen op haar eigen team, maar werkt ook veel samen met andere specialisten binnen AKD als de expertise van andere vakgebieden nodig is. Zij heeft goede contacten met buitenlandse advocaten, vanuit het internationale netwerk van AKD.
Petra is lid van de Vereniging Farmacie en Recht, de Vereniging Levensmiddelenrecht, de Vereeniging ‘Handelsrecht’ en het Juridisch Genootschap Eindhoven. Zij heeft diverse presentaties gegeven op haar vakgebied en geeft ook ‘in house’ cursussen. De afgelopen jaren is Petra steeds dagvoorzitter geweest van de jaarlijkse ‘Wetgevingsdag levensmiddelen’ van VMT.
Daarnaast is Petra jarenlang redacteur geweest van het tijdschrift Journaal Warenwet en de losbladige Wetgeving Geneesmiddelenrecht. Thans is zij redacteur van Jurisprudentie Geneesmiddelenrecht. Zij is mede-auteur van de boeken Garanties in de rechtspraktijk, Regelgeving farmacie en Hoofdlijnen Levensmiddelenrecht en heeft diverse annotaties en publicaties op haar naam staan. Petra is rechter-plaatsvervanger bij de rechtbank Roermond.
