Irna knew at the age of 12 she wanted to be a lawyer. This has become a reality with her swearing in 2003 as a lawyer in Groningen.
Irna started out as an all-round lawyer, she worked in all jurisdictions. Personal and family law jumped out for her from the start. The human aspect combined with (complex) legal issues appealed to her greatly. Irna has therefore started specializing in personal and family law over the years. With completing the Legal Specialization Training of the Association of Family Law Lawyers Separation Mediaton (vFAS), she is entitled to call herself a specialist in personal and family law. Irna then followed the training of the vFAS as a specialist (divorce) intermediary/mediator, which she successfully completed.
Irna's activities include divorces and their consequences, including the settlement of prenuptial terms or the distribution and settlement of the community of goods. But she is also used to: the break-up of a two-relation, pension issues, maintenance issues, and questions of authority, recognition and handling.From her position as mediator, Irna is used to sitting around the table with parties seeking a solution. It will also, in principle, choose that approach if it acts for a client on a one-sided basis. However, once it is clear that an arrangement is not possible by mutual agreement, it will certainly not shy away from initiating a procedure.
Irna likes to share her knowledge with others and is therefore, among other things, a contact person for the Children's and Youth's Law Store. Irna is a member of the Association of Family Law Lawyers Separation Mediators.
Irna is part of the section "Personal and Family Law" of De Haan Lawyers & Notaries.
Irna wist op twaalf jarige leeftijd al dat ze advocaat wilde worden. Dit is werkelijkheid geworden met haar beëdiging in 2003 als advocaat in Groningen.
Irna is begonnen als allround advocaat, zij is op alle rechtsgebieden werkzaam geweest. Het personen- en familierecht sprong er voor haar van meet af aan uit. Het menselijke aspect gecombineerd met (complexe) juridische vraagstukken sprak haar erg aan. Irna is zich dan ook in de loop der jaren gaan specialiseren in het personen- en familierecht. Met het afronden van de Juridische Specialisatieopleiding van de Vereniging van Familierecht Advocaten Scheidingsmediaton (vFAS) mag zij zich met recht een specialist in het personen- en familierecht noemen. Vervolgens volgde Irna de opleiding van de vFAS tot gespecialiseerd (echtscheidings)bemiddelaar/mediator, welke zij met goed gevolg heeft afgerond.
Irna’s werkzaamheden liggen onder meer op het gebied van echtscheidingen en de gevolgen daarvan, waarbij gedacht kan worden aan de afwikkeling van huwelijkse voorwaarden of de verdeling en verrekening van de gemeenschap van goederen. Maar ook wordt zij ingezet bij: de verbreking van een tweerelatie,pensioenvraagstukken,bij alimentatiezaken, enin kwesties met betrekking tot gezag, erkenning en omgang.Vanuit haar functie als mediator is Irna gewend met partijen rond de tafel te gaan zitten waarbij gezocht wordt naar een oplossing. Die insteek zal zij in beginsel ook kiezen als zij voor een cliënt “eenzijdig” optreedt. Maar is eenmaal duidelijk dat een regeling in onderling overleg niet tot de mogelijkheden behoort, dan zal zij het opstarten van een procedure zeker niet schuwen.
Irna deelt graag haar kennis met anderen en is daarom ondermeer contactpersoon voor de Kinderen- en Jongerenrechtswinkel. Irna is lid van de Vereniging van Familierecht Advocaten Scheidingsmediators.
