Jaap Jan Trommel has extensive experience in the field of mergers and acquisitions and other business law work for national and international clients. He has previously worked as a lawyer in Spain, Singapore and Indonesia. He works mainly for clients in the energy sector. Recently, Jaap Jan was involved in CCS and wind farm projects and various M&A transactions in the sector. He also has extensive experience in the field of boardroom counselling.
Jaap Jan graduated from Utrecht University in 1985 and obtained a postgraduate degree in international law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 1986 (cum laude). He's been a partner since 1995.
He co-authors the annual publication of the World Bank Doing Business: understanding regulation.

Jaap Jan Trommel heeft ruime ervaring op het gebied van fusies en overnames en ander ondernemingsrechtelijk werk voor nationale en internationale cliënten. Hij is eerder werkzaam geweest als advocaat in Spanje, Singapore en Indonesië. Hij werkt vooral voor cliënten in de energiesector. Recentelijk was Jaap Jan betrokken bij CCS en windparkprojecten en diverse M&A transacties in de sector. Hij heeft tevens ruime ervaring op het gebied van boardroom counselling.
Jaap Jan is in 1985 afgestudeerd aan de Universiteit Utrecht en heeft in 1986 (cum laude) een postdoctorale graad in internationaal recht behaald aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Hij is partner sinds 1995.
Hij is co-auteur van de jaarlijkse publicatie van de Wereldbank Doing Business: understanding regulation.
Legal 500 (2011) en Chambers Europe (2012) beschrijft hem als "very good at giving practical and realistic advice" and "calm and commercially astute".
