François has a broad experience in corporate law and currently works as a senior associate from the Rotterdam and Amsterdam offices of AKD. He has been involved in many national and international transactions, including a large number of private equity deals. A selection of recent transactions is included below.
In addition to strategic acquisitions and buy-outs, he advises several Dutch investment funds about their investments and exits. He is also often involved as a lawyer for the sellers.
By combining this experience with his knowledge and previous experience in the field of insolvency and restructuring, François also advises on the various aspects of distressed M&A.
In the Chambers for Europe, 2012 edition, François is mentioned as a key individual in the field of Corporate/M&A and Chambers mentions in that respect about him: .Francois Koppenol is "creative in finding solutions that work for everyone," say clients .
François completed his post-academic training in Grotius's "Fusies and Acquisitions" in 2009 cum laude. He studied law in Leiden.
In addition, François is one of the co-authors of the commented bundle of laws "SDU" Comments "Insolvency Law." He regularly provides courses on M&A and other topics related to corporate law and restructuring.

François heeft een brede ervaring op het gebied van ondernemingsrecht en werkt als senior associate momenteel vanuit het Rotterdamse en Amsterdamse kantoor van AKD. Hij is betrokken geweest bij vele nationale en internationale transacties, waaronder een groot aantal private equity deals. Een selectie van recente transacties is hieronder opgenomen.
Naast strategische overnames en buy outs, adviseert hij verscheidene Nederlandse investeringsfondsen over hun investeringen en exits. Ook is hij daarbij dikwijls betrokken als advocaat van de verkopers.
Door deze ervaring te combineren met zijn kennis en eerdere ervaring op het gebied van insolventie en herstructurering adviseert François ook over de verschillende aspecten van distressed M&A.

Daarnaast is François één van co-auteurs van de becommentarieerde wettenbundel ‘SDU Commentaar Insolventierecht’. Hij geeft regelmatig cursussen over M&A en andere onderwerpen met betrekking tot ondernemingsrecht en herstructurering.
