Suhaib takes pride in his Atticus Finch approach to lawyering – balanced, pragmatic, and even-keeled. Suhaib believes that litigation should be only used when necessary, and often advises his clients that a day of mediation is almost always better than an hour at trial. Should litigation be inevitable, Suhaib has extensive experience as a litigator.
Suhaib believes that a healthy and productive work environment flourishes when there is a healthy work culture, in which all parties feel respected and heard. He believes in the old, and true, adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Called to the Ontario Bar, 2011 B.A., Humanities and Communication Studies: York University, J.D. Osgoode Hall Law School
Suhaib successfully represented clients before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, and labour arbitrators at grievances.
Suhaib has taken his strengths as a litigator and applied it to assisting workplaces with harassment and discrimination investigations. Suhaib takes pride in his ability to make complex matters understandable to people of all backgrounds. He takes an approach to resolving workplace challenges in which all solutions are explored; keeping at heart an appreciation for different perspectives and lived experiences.
Suhaib’s first use of his advocacy skills was in grade 1, when a stray cat walked through the front door of his family’s home. With no owner to be found, Suhaib and his siblings successfully advocated on behalf of Lucky, as she was affectionally called, to remain as the family pet. Over the years, and despite numerous arguments dealing with furballs and scratched furniture, Suhaib’s advocacy proved effective as the furniture left but Lucky remained.
