About

Cynthia works with her clients to support their operational needs and achieve sensible strategies and solutions for workplace issues.

Before starting to focus exclusively on employment law in 2012, Cynthia spent almost two decades building her practice foundation in general commercial law, litigation and in-house practice. That background shapes how she works today, giving her a unique perspective to understand business needs that helps resolve matters outside the courtroom, though she's equally at home before all levels of courts and administrative tribunals in Ontario when litigation arises.

A highly respected and trusted employment lawyer, Cynthia practices primarily with employers of various sizes and from various industries on human resource and employment-related matters, including hiring practices, company policies and procedures, performance management, managing employee leaves of absence, in-house workplace investigations, human rights issues, occupational health and safety requirements, and risk management. Her underlying goal is simple: provide comprehensive and practical strategies to assist clients in navigating complex statutory and HR obligations.

Cynthia’s approach is defined by her attention to detail paired with her innate advocacy instincts. She's regularly called on as a speaker and loves sharing her deep knowledge of employment law with clients and industry groups, including the Law Society of Ontario and HRPA.

When not “in the trenches” for her clients, Cynthia enjoys crafting cocktails at home with her husband and 2 children - often pairing a creative drink with cheering on their favourite lacrosse and football teams, or a night at the ballet, symphony, or theatre.

Cynthia earned an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia, with a semester at the U.C. Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, California. She has a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University). She has also completed the Canadian Securities Course.
