About

Youssef was called to the Bar following a clerkship at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto where he assisted judges with complex civil and criminal trials and appeals, in addition to judicial reviews of labour arbitration decisions. The insights Youssef gained into effective oral and written advocacy as a clerk inform his own approach to litigation, and the strategic choices he makes.

Youssef obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. During his legal studies, he spent eight months in the Workers’ Rights Division of Parkdale Community Legal Services, representing individual employees in wrongful and constructive dismissal matters before the Small Claims Court and in discrimination applications at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. He volunteered with the Workers’ Action Centre on the ‘Fight for $15 & Fairness’ campaign and organized strike support with the Osgoode Hall Law Union to assist striking food service and academic workers.

Youssef graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in the top 10 percent of his class. Prior to studying law, he completed a political science degree at York University, graduating with the Governor General’s Academic Medal for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average across all faculties.

Following his clerkship, Youssef worked as a junior legal analyst for the Town of Collingwood Judicial Inquiry, assisting Associate Chief Justice Frank N. Marrocco in the publication of his report. The Inquiry investigated the 50 percent share sale of the Town’s electric utility and the allocation of the proceeds from the sale to the construction of recreational facilities.

While in law school, Youssef worked as a research assistant to labour law professor Eric M. Tucker. Youssef updated Professor Tucker’s labour and employment textbook and researched platform mediated work for a conference paper.
