About

Upon completion of his Undergrad, Michael volunteered weekly at Access Pro Bono, a not-for-profit organization providing free legal advice for those who qualified for legal aid but could not afford a lawyer. This opportunity provided Michael with invaluable hands-on experience working with those from the impoverished Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

Michael’s pursuit of legal studies took him to the University of Kent in England where he graduated with upper-class honors. While at Law School, Michael established the Canadian Law Society and served as the organization’s Vice-President. One of Michael’s main initiatives with the Canadian Law Society was to establish a Canadian Law Moot. In this moot, unique Canadian Charter issues were debated and judged by a panel of Canadian alumni working in various levels of government, professors and local barristers. Michael was awarded Best Mooter at the competition. Michael was also active in the award-winning Kent Law Clinic.

Michael articled with both Kathryn Wells and Leora Shemesh and has worked on a wide-range of criminal matters as a Toronto criminal lawyer. Michael’s main passion is advocating and legal research. He has been an associate at Leora Shemesh Criminal Law since 2015.
