Michael Evan Matwichuk

Michael is an associate in Osler’s Disputes group. His practice focuses on litigating complex corporate and commercial disputes, construction disputes, and energy disputes.

He has appeared in the Alberta Court of Appeal, Alberta Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Justice, and he has experience in both domestic and international arbitration.

Prior to joining Osler, Michael practiced in the litigation group of another leading Canadian law firm and served as a law clerk at the Federal Court of Appeal. He has experience with tax disputes, environmental disputes, Indigenous consultation disputes, and judicial review of government decision-making.

The Court provided several reasons why amendments to the federal Impact Assessment Act have fallen short of constitutional requirements.
