About

Aashish is a member of OKT’s lands and governance team, with a particular focus on major projects. He advises Indigenous governments on major mining, energy, nuclear and infrastructure projects, including legislative development and reform, regulatory approvals, consultation processes and impact and benefit agreements. He frequently represents clients in negotiations with proponents and provincial, federal, and territorial governments on matters involving the co-development of legislation and the management of lands and natural resources.

Aashish supports clients across Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Alberta, and Nunavut. Before joining OKT, Aashish practiced in Ontario and the Northwest Territories, focusing on Aboriginal law, administrative law, natural resources, and economic development. Having previously resided in Yellowknife, he continues to maintain a robust Northern practice.

Aashish is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he co-instructs the first-year seminar “Rights & Reconciliation: Indigenous Peoples & the Law.” He writes on matters affecting Indigenous governments and frequently appears as a panellist and in media interviews on topics including major-project development and regulatory reform.

Aashish was the 2026 recipient of Osgoode Hall Law School’s “One to Watch” Alumni Award. He also previously received the Dean’s Gold Key from Osgoode for outstanding contributions to the law school.
