Gillian Louise Purvis

Gillian Purvis, LLB, B.Sc. (Hons), is Senior Vice-President and General Counsel, effective February 1, 2026.

As General Counsel, Gillian oversees all legal affairs of Empire Life and provides legal counsel to Empire Life’s Board, executives and management on various legal issues. Additionally, she manages the Legal team and provides legal advice and support on strategic corporate matters and other initiatives.

Before joining Empire Life in 2012, Gillian worked in private practice. She is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario.
