About

“Working with Mehria has been a positive experience. She brings a thoughtful, strategic approach and demonstrates great insight when navigating the legal system. What initially felt like an overwhelming and confusing situation became much more manageable with her guidance. Mehria provided consistent support, clear communication, and reassurance throughout the entire process. I felt confident knowing I had her expertise and advocacy behind me every step of the way.”

“Paramount Paralegals provided exceptional assistance in helping me recover funds through a demand letter. From the outset, they took the time to understand the details of my situation and offered clear, practical guidance on the best course of action. They prepared a strong and well-drafted demand letter that resulted in a prompt and favourable response, ultimately leading to full payment without the need for further legal proceedings. They were very professional making the entire process stress-free. I truly appreciated the support and would not hesitate to recommend these services.”

As of October 1, 2025, the monetary jurisdiction of the Ontario Small Claims Court has increased from $35,000 to $50,000 pursuant to O. Reg. 42/25 under the Courts of Justice Act .

This change allows individuals and businesses to pursue higher-value claims through a more efficient and cost-effective process, without needing to proceed in the Superior Court of Justice. For many small businesses in particular, this expansion improves access to justice and simplifies the recovery of debts and damages. As a result, a broader range of disputes can now be resolved through Small Claims Court.

The same monetary increase also applies to matters before the Landlord and Tenant Board.

The Landlord and Tenant Board continues to expand the use of electronic hearings under the authority of the Statutory Powers Procedure Act and the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 . Virtual hearings (by videoconference or telephone) are now the default in many cases, with in-person hearings granted only in limited circumstances.
