Chantal Maria Emérentienne Bernier

Chantal Bernier is Co-chair of Dentons’ Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Group as well as a member of the Canadian Privacy and Cybersecurity practice group. She joined Dentons after nearly six years at the helm of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC). Her specialization and experience in public international law at the Department of Justice have brought her to expand her practice to matters of digital and AI sovereignty.

She is also Chair of Statistics Canada Advisory Council on Ethics and Modernization of Microdata Access, Member of the Standards Council of Canada Steering Committee on AI and Data Governance, and Privacy Practitioner in Residence at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa.
