Rebecca Jehanne Ying

Lawyer · York

506-2 Jane St, York, Ontario M6S 4W3

About

Rebecca believes that a negotiated or mediated resolution exists for (almost) every family law dispute, whether it is a complex support or high-conflict parenting issue, such as imputation of income, relocating with children or parental alienation / realistic estrangement.

Rebecca litigates when necessary for her clients and focuses on all types of litigation, including trial matters. She enjoys working on asset division issues like reckless depletion, parental loans and down payments, income issues like self-employed or corporate owner payors, international wrongful child removal (abductions) and contempt of court cases.

Rebecca has a special interest in marriage (prenuptial) contracts and cohabitation agreements and spends a lot of time thinking about how to draft marriage contracts that stand the test of time.

Rebecca has appeared at the Superior and Ontario Court of Justice (incl. Small Claims) across southern Ontario, including Toronto, Brampton (Peel), Milton (Halton), Burlington, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Windsor, Newmarket, Barrie, Orillia, Parry Sound, Elliot Lake, Oshawa and Kingston, and at the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Rebecca graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School with a Juris Doctor (JD) in 2014 and has a BA (Hons) from McGill University.

As a student caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services, she litigated cases at the Social Benefits Tribunal and Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
