Tyler Hollis Brent

Tyler Brent is a Partner in the Tax Law group at KPMG Law. Dual-qualified as a tax lawyer and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), he has more than 15 years of experience across law, taxation and accounting. His practice focuses on Canadian real estate taxation, cross-border real estate investment structures, and tax and estate planning for high-net-worth families.

Tyler advises participants in the Canadian real estate market, including public real estate investment trusts (REITs), private asset managers, investors, developers and property managers. He assists clients with domestic tax matters and with the structuring of inbound and outbound real estate investments. His combined legal and accounting experience informs advice that considers both the technical tax requirements and their practical application.

Tyler also advises high-net-worth families on tax and estate planning, particularly families with complex planning needs and those with significant Canadian real estate holdings. He helps clients understand how applicable tax legislation affects their structures, investments and planning decisions.

Outside of the office, Tyler enjoys skiing, playing badminton, and spending quality time with his family.
